Dr. James Houser combines a thoughtful diagnostic process with the strategic use of medication to support patient growth, always aiming to build trusting relationships grounded in compassion, relatability, and mutual respect.
Dr. Houser is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience, specializing in medication management. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, where he graduated cum laude, and went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Colorado and has since held several leadership roles, including Department Chair and Chief of Psychiatry at previous institutions. He finds psychiatry to be a unique field that allows him to blend creativity with the structure of medicine, helping people navigate their mental health journeys with clarity and care.
Originally from Spokane, Dr. Houser has called Seattle home for over 40 years. Outside of work, he enjoys fitness, music, food, and spending quality time with friends and family. Known for his warm demeanor and sense of humor, Dr. Houser strives to make everyone feel seen, supported, and empowered.
